“There are moments in recovery that leave you filled with gratitude and awe. This was one of those moments for me. My oldest daughter was graduating from law school in New York City, and in the midst of all my fatherly pride I realized that this was the very same city where, in my disease, I had tried to kill myself. It was the very next day that I had flown home and entered treatment. Now with over 30 years in recovery, I get to be a father, husband, speaker, mentor and coach. I get to live life on life’s terms and I get to give back.” —Scott Silverman
